About Architectural Wood Welcome to our website. Thank you for looking us over. Here at Architectural Wood, we are proud of our company, proud of our products, and proud of our employees. We strive to continuously deliver fine woodwork which meets or exceeds the standards of the industry. We have been inspected by the Architectural Woodwork Institute (AWI) and are certified to fabricate Premium Grade woodwork. For over 20 years, we have delivered fine, custom woodwork. Our motto is: “Craftsmanship Without Compromise – Service Without Excuses.” Incorporated into our product are such diverse materials as fabrics, metal, glass, stone, and plastics. Woodwork, as a visual medium, is quite beautiful. The natural beauty of the grain can be enhanced by good architectural design. In our photographs, we have tried to illustrate for you the beauty of wood. Alas, it is only a sampling of the many wonderful projects we have built over the years. This company was founded in 1985. Our key personnel have many years of experience in the specialty of architectural woodwork. Their craftsmanship and skills have been validated. In 1994, Architectural Wood was awarded the craftsmanship award by the Blue Ridge Chapter AIA. In 1995; we received Va. Society of the American Institute of Architecture's "Society Honors." In 2005, Architectural Wood received the “Standards Of Excellence“ award from the Architectural Woodwork Institute. We are currently licensed in the state of Va. as a Class "A" contractor. Architectural Wood has been featured in several national publications. Our staff Bruce Cody - Business Manager - founded Architectural Wood in 1985. Formerly served as Chairman of the AWI Quality Certification Program (QCP). Served as National President AWI, Executive Committee of the National Board of Directors and formerly on the national AWI Quality Standards Board of Review. Also served as president of the Va. Chapter of the Architectural Woodwork Institute in 1993-1994. Has lectured to building construction and architectural departments of several colleges on architectural woodworking. Also, has served as member of the Contracts Committee for the American Sub-Contractors Association. Mr. Cody was nominated as Roanoke Regional Chamber of Commerce Small Business Person of the year in 1993 &2005. Bruce has helped to organize industry seminars, both nationally and statewide. Has written many articles for industry publications. E-Mail: Jason Becker - Project Manager Jason has a degree in Architectural and Construction Technology. Jason has worked in the past as a CAD operator designing modular homes and commercial buildings. Jason oversees the engineering and design of our various projects. E-Mail: Paula Hutton - Office Manager– began Accounting and Payroll career in the US Army as a finance specialist at Ft. Lee, VA. Upon discharge from the military remained with the Department of Defense as a military payroll technician. In an effort to be closer to family relocated to Elliston Va in December 1995 and accepted a position with the State of Virginia at Child Support Enforcement. Has served as Office Manager with Architectural Wood since 1999. E-Mail: Mr. Buster Poff (R) - Plant Superintendent - has many years of experience in the woodworking business. Mr. Poff has also worked at several Roanoke area woodworking businesses before his current position at Architectural Wood (since 1986). Beginning as a mechanic, Mr. Poff is currently production supervisor in charge of a full plant. His skill and innovations have lead to increases in production capacity. He has continued to further his involvement through seminars, plant tours, and trade shows. Buster has received recognition for many years of service to Architectural Wood.
